How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

Image
I've had a couple of people ask how I wash my makeup brushes, when I posted a photograph of my freshly washed brushes on instagram a while back and I've finally got round to doing a post. I haven't shown you photos of me actually washing my brushes as that could get messy and I can imagine myself splashing the camera, so hopefully you'll get the gist.  I wash one brush at a time and start off by completely wetting he bristles, making sure not to get any water past the barrel as this is when the glue gets ruined and the bristles fall out. I then grab the Simple's antibacterial handwash, I prefer to use simple soaps as they are gentle on my brushes and my sensitive skin. I apply a pump on my palm and wiz the brush around in circular motions until all the makeup seems to disappear. I find these Real Techniques really easy to wash as the bristles have white tips, helping to show when the makeup has been completely removed. If the makeup is being quite stu

Sally Hansen: Spring Nails

Image
After wearing bold winter colours for weeks on end I decided I wanted a change with my nails. I love it when seasons roll around and you can change to colours that suit each time of the year. I love bright and colourful polishes but sometimes it's nice to strip things back. Finding the perfect nude nail colour is always a struggle, they're either too chalky or too clear. I'm always on the lookout for a polish that has enough colour to look like you're wearing something as having to do more than 2 to 3 coats of polish just leaves my nails looking like a sludgy mess.  I have used a few of Sally Hansen's Salon Complete polishes in the past and have loved them all. They are so easy to apply, especially when in a hurry as they have a top coat, base coat and strengthener all in one as well as a nail growth aid. This usually takes 3 coats to give a nice finish, any less gives the barely there look and any more would probably take forever to dry and look a mes

Blogging: Photography Tips

When it comes to blogging I like to switch up my backgrounds every so often to prevent my posts from becoming too boring. Blog photos are something that draw me in to a blog over the writing, if someone has nice and bright photos then I'll be more likely to follow them. It's not too hard to compose a good photo when adjusting the ISO on a camera, I especially like using natural light as it gives a better effect in my opinion. Unfortunately we don't get a whole load of sunny days in England, and when we do its often on days that I'm busy. I tend to set at least one day a week as a bulk blogging day where I'll photograph products for a few posts, that means that if I'm busy of theres bad lighting on some days I'll always have a post saved and ready to go.
