Keeping Stress and Anxiety at Bay
Todays post is a different one from me. When it comes to anxiety, I used to find it hard to keep it to a minimum, I'd get upset about small things and find it hard to keep a positive mindset. Today I've put together a few tips that have really helped me when it comes to keeping anxiety and stress levels at bay.
1. Create a relaxed atmosphere. I popped in to Neom the other day and was greeted by a really lovely and understanding lady who suggested the de-stress kit, containing a mini set of products containing calming essential oils. In the set theres an on the go mist, an intensive treatment to apply to pulse points and a home mist, perfect for spraying on pillows and fabrics around you. They
2) Meditation. I have been loving the app 'Calm' for a while now, it offers a range of different settings to help relax you, wether it's a morning meditation session, an on the go quick fix or a sleep aid.
3) Surround yourself with positivity. Be it people, uplifting quotes or reflecting books. My favourite books for this are Miranda Kerr's 'Empower Yourself' and 'Treasure Yourself', helping to keep a calm mind. I find having quotes dotted around helpful as quick ways to change a mindset.
4) Stay occupied. I find keeping busy is key at keeping my anxiety on a minimum level. Having too much time on my hands leads to other thinking and procrastination. Having a blog has helped massively as it means I always have something to do and something to look back on and be proud of. Having a hobby to focus on is always good, along with reading. I'm not a big reader but taking a few hours out to read is an amazing way to de-stress.
5) Keep it Simple. Make pamper evenings your new favourite activity. Taking time out to relax and look after yourself every now and then is key. Set the scene with a few candles, spa music and a calming tea along with a hair and face mask and a lush bath. My favourite at the moment is 'Dream Time' it's a blend of chamomile and lavender to soothe the soul with a hint of ginger to relax tired muscles.
6) Playlists. Make playlists on your phone that you can listen to anytime. James Bay's album is one of my favourites for easy listening.
7) Cut out triggers. Everybody will have different triggers, I find caffeine one of the main ones for me. Then theres having too much time to think. Yoga is a great way at keeping my mind at ease and it gives me something different to focus on.
8) Indulge. Snack on dark chocolate. It is proven that there are anxiety balancing benefits in dark chocolate, so snack away!
Remember you won't always feel like this, theres always light at the end of the tunnel.
Train your mind to see the good in everything.
